Abbeville, the « capital » of Picardie Maritime is surrounded by the Ponthieu, the Marquenterre and the Vimeu areas.

Picardie Maritime is bordered by the Picardy coast and the Baie de Somme, and stretches from Fort Mahon to Mers les Bains going through Quend, the Belle Dune golf course, le Crotoy and St Valery with their fisherman’s cottages, Cayeux, the little port of Le Hourdel and the pretty village at Le Bois de Cise close to Ault.

Three valleys cross the region : to the North, the Authie valley near Le Touquet and Montreuil sur Mer is doted with the charming villages of Nampont and Argoulles and the famous gardens of the Abbaye de Valloires.

The mouth of the river Maye further South, is in the bird sanctuary of the Marquenterre. The Maye river passes along the edge of the Crecy forest where traditional Picardy fermettes abound in the little hamlets.

The valley of the Bresle bordering the Eu forest, forms the natural border between Picardy and Normandy. The river Bresle flows into the sea at Mers and Le Tréport.
